Effective Brakes to Work With Your Towing System
To help stop your motor home in a tight pinch, Smitty's RV & Welding recommends a supplemental braking system with your towing package, and in most states these systems are required. Listed below are the brake systems we recommend. We have been serving the Houston, TX area for over 40 years, offering honest and competitive pricing without trying to sell you extra parts or work you don't need. Air Force One
The DEMCO Air Force One installs under the hood of the towed vehicle and actuates a cylinder mounted on the brake pedal arm. This is controlled by air pressure it gets from the motor home brakes. It is a directly proportional system, meaning no guesswork from inertia sensors. Once installed there is nothing to take in or out of the towed vehicle.
Stay-IN-Play DUO
The DEMCO Stay-IN-Play DUO installs under the hood of the towed vehicle and actuates a cylinder mounted on the brake pedal arm. The Stay-IN-Play DUO is designed for a coach with hydraulic brakes. This unit is controlled by a brake signal and deceleration from the coach. When engaged, the Stay-IN-Play DUO will use progressive braking to the towed vehicle.
Once installed there is nothing to take in or out of the towed vehicle.
M&G
The M&G braking system is one of the best on the market. M&G works off of the air brakes on your motorhome. Once the brakes on the motor home have been applied, the M&G unit then activates the brakes on your vehicle proportionally to the amount of braking on the motor home.
(If you do not have air brakes on your motorhome there is an air reservoir that can be added to the motorhome to make it compatible.)
